Another convention season has drawn to a close and before long I'll be back in the bush again on safari. My special thanks to the thousands of fine hunters and huntresses I shook hands with and met in Reno. I enjoyed looking at your photos and cherish all your input for future videos. We are all equal in that we share a passion for safari, ethical hunting, good shots, and realistic videotaped hunting sequences.
My safari hat goes off to you all who support our videos, realize they are dramatically different and are willing to go the extra $5.00 to view them. Untold hours of manpower and womanpower (my editor is Brenda Brattleaf) have been invested in the editing room to the simplest details to preserve the integrity of the hunt.
There were so many highlights of my Reno trip, but there is one compliment I received that stands above all the rest. A fellow safari video producer who I`ve always considered one of the friendly "competition" approached me, shook my hand, and put his left hand atop my right shoulder. Presuming I was about to get skewered by another one of his snide remarks, I was pleasantly surprised.
"Marc, Fire and Ice is without a doubt the best safari hunting DVD that has ever been made and that I have ever seen. I really mean that."
I was stunned.
"You know I've given you a lot of flack about the Bwana Moja one shot stuff. Marc, you are Bwana Moja, and worthy of that title."
The conversation ended by him telling me not to be surprised if he borrows some of my production tactics for his two new videos. I told him that's fine. What do they say about imitation?
